Fall is right around the corner, which means cooler temperatures and thoughts about upcoming holidays are upon us. One of the most popular things people do during Fall is donate extra goods they have in their home to those who need them more.

If donating is part of your Fall to-do list this year but you don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered! We provided a list of some of our favorite things to give to charities, and places to donate to so that you can hit the ground running.

5 Things to Donate

If you’re having trouble thinking of what to donate, don’t stress yourself out! You can get inspiration from some of our favorite things to give below that someone else will be able to enjoy during the colder seasons.

  1. Blankets

Once the Fall months roll around, things usually get chilly pretty quickly. If you have any extra blankets at home, this is the perfect time to sort through them and gather the ones that haven’t been used as much as they should have. You’ll be able to help people stay warm through cold nights just by donating blankets alone!

  1. Unused Toiletries

Everyone has a few too many unused toiletries on their shelves, and unfortunately, many of these items just get thrown away! Instead of this, gather any new items you know you won’t be using any time soon like shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant, and donate them. You can be sure that some people will be thankful for all the everyday essentials you provided them with.

  1. Books

If you have books that you haven’t touched in years gathering dust in your home, consider donating them! Books are great to donate during the Fall because more people will spend more time in their homes as temperatures cool, and they’ll need an outlet besides television or their phone.

  1. Jackets and Sweaters

Jackets and sweaters are necessities as temperatures start to dip, and any extra ones you have that can be donated will be appreciated. When sorting through your closet, gather items that can be versatile through the different weather conditions that come with Fall like wind and rain.

  1. Your Time

One of the greatest things you can give back during Fall is your time to one of your favorite charities. If it’s possible, you can spend a few hours of your mornings or afternoons doing everything from handing out meals at a food bank to socializing with animals at a shelter.

Where to Donate at

Fortunately, there are many places you can donate to, so all you really have to do is think about what causes you would like to contribute to, and what’s local to you.
